'The Jungle Book' -

Press Release

For the first time in Banbury, Cherwell Theatre Company is running an exciting summer school for anyone aged from 11 to 16 years at The Mill Theatre.

About thirty young people will

be working with a professional team from Oxfordshire's leading theatre company under the direction of Nasser Memarzia, in collaboration with choregrapher Layla Jade-Williams and Musical Director Maxine Lincoln, both Banbury based. 

CTC will re-create all the magical moments of Disney's 'The Jungle Book' over five days and participants will have fun learning new songs, dance routines and developing characters towards a performance at the end of the week.

This is a great way for young people to improve on all aspects of performance technique, as well as develop teamwork and social skills in a friendly and creative environment. 

Dates are Monday to Friday 23-27 August from 10-4pm and the cost is only £125, with a special price of just £85 for siblings!

Since The Snow Queen CTC has been very busy working on a number of projects.

On 22nd April CTC held a VIP Evening at Banbury School to present our educational drugs-awareness play, 'The Buzzed'.
The feedback from the evening has been very positive and from which a number of schools have expressed interest in the project.

Next month, CTC will be working alongside Cherwell District Council to present a day of street theatre in Parsons Street. The project is taking place in Parsons Street from 11-4 on Saturday 17th July.

This summer CTC are putting on their first ever Summer School - Disney's Jungle Book. The scheme will run from Monday 23rd-Friday 28th August. (10-4 Monday-Thursday and 10-8 on Friday - the day of the performance) The summer school is open to anyone aged between 11 and 16 who has an interest in theatre, no experience necessary!. The scheme costs just £125 which works out to be less than £3 an hour!

Happy new year to everyone! Things have really been taking shape since we returned after the new year. The Technical rehearsal has taken place and all the lights are programmed, the set is all built, and we are now just doing the finishing touches and the final dress rehearsals!! The last couple of days have been very productive here at the Mill. The main body and framing of the set has been built, and has had its undercoat, and is now ready to be painted! The lighting crew have been in rigging all of the lights, ready for the technical rehearsal next week. Can't believe its just over a week to go!! Lots of photos have been added to Facebook so keep checking!

The production has now been cast and the rehearsals have begun. The publicity team are hard at work, and we have just had thousands of flyers and posters deliverd ready for distribution.

Plans are now well underway for our seasonal production, The Snow Queen, at The Mill Arts Centre, running from 11-23 of January. The script has been written and our fantastic designer is hard at work! Auditions took place last weekend and the director is now in the process of selecting the cast.
